I get asked a lot how I "found Cody". Truth is he found me, but I had to find myself too before I could even show this skater boy any attention. We were in college, and for me I had 1000 things going on. Just had gotten out of a sticky relationship that left me a little broken. (and by little I mean a lot) That's what relationships not surrounded by the Lord will do to you. Still, kill, and destroy. See I was seeking satisfaction in all the wrong places. BOYS. Before meeting this guy I had only ever been in one real relationship that was awesome, but I had no clue what I was doing, thinking, nor feeling. I was placing my faith in people, and not in Jesus. I knew what was right, true, and pure. I just took my focus off of the Lord, and more on myself. You know what that leads too? Eating fruit we were never intended to take a bite of.

Satan is good like that. He knows how we tick. He knows what to say and exactly when to say it. I mean he has been doing this since the beginning of time. Genesis 3 talks about "The Fall" and the Bible tells us that Satan is "the most cunning". That means the dude is smart, and you are not his first RODEO. (<--if you know me then you know how I said this)

We have to be on guard, and the only way to do this is to know what scripture says about us. The truth is Satan knows and believes those things already and that's why he continues to deceive us the way he does. He knows he looses, so he has to do everything in his power to make sure it doesn't happen. You know the truth though. As a believer in Jesus, he does not have this power over you. You can flee. You can choose to KNOW and BELIEVE what God has already spoken into existence over you.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. What the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on things of flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Now the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit to God’s law. Indeed, it is unable to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh, but In the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him. Now if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you. So then, brother and sisters, we are NOT obligated to the flesh to live according to the flesh, because if you live according to the flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons and daughters. You did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear. INSTEAD, you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs—-heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—-if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.
— Romans 8:1-17

Man. Do you believe that? This is the verse I wrote in my journal in 2012 as I was trying to find who I was. See girls, I knew I couldn't find my best friend without realizing who I already belonged too. Once I reached that spot. .the rest honestly was history.

Cody loved the Lord with everything he was.. and I could see that. It was very attractive, that and the fact that he drove a F-150. HA. Cody was a Youth Pastor for a super small church in East Texas and one of his strongest traits was he was so incredibly humble. (he still is) I had never seen passion for the ministry like what Cody had. He didn't care where he was, as long as God called him he wanted to serve. The size of the church could be 40+, or 3,000+ and you still get the same guy. I liked that. So months passed, and lots of ups and downs and Cody and I began to date. (this was after a years time of lots of car rides, conversations, getting to know each other, anddd me telling him no.. I'm the worst I know)

Started dating in November of 2012, Engaged February of 2013, and married just a short 6 months later on September 7, 2013. (Click here for wedding video) I wouldn't change my story for anything. But the message I want y'all to hear is finding your best friend can only happen if you realize the real love of your life first is Jesus Christ. You have to know who's you are and what your heart beats for. Then, and only then comes the most beautiful gift. Mine just so happens to go by the name Cody.
